I'm having problem setting up this HP Deskjet D2430
on Myah OS which uses Xfce. Xfce does not their own
printer setup utility. Instead it uses the CUPS server.
I tried to setup the printer using

http://localhost:631/
-> Add Printer
-> enter unimportant data:
used D2430 for Name & Description
used local for Location
-> Continue
-> HP Deskjet series USB TH7A2323SV04Y9 HPLIP
(HP Deckjet D2400 series)
-> Continue
-> [entered the PPD file, I downloaded]
HP-Deskjet_D2400http://localhost:631/-hpijs.ppd
-> Add Printer
-> enter root + password

Screen says "Printer D2430 has been added successfully."
Then the web page changes to the set printer options
webpage. I left this webpage with all the default
options.

Next I go the Printers tab. Just left of the printer
name, I see "Filter "foomatic-rip" for printer "D2430"
not available: No such file or directory". If I try
to print a Test Page nothing happens.

For Gentoo, the solution is to

ln -s /usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip
/usr/libexec/cups/filter/foomatic-rip

according to

http://solutions.brother.com/linux/sol/printer/linux/linux_faq-3.html

But for Myah OS there is no /usr/libexec . Also I noted
it is

/usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip-hplip

So how do I link the filter (or I don't???) in Myah OS?
Myah OS is NOT a rpm-based, deb-based distro. or based on
any other distro. It's a relatively new OS that is rising
quickly on distrowatch.

You can get a feel of where all my cups files are
by looking at

http://shengchieh.50webs.com/cupslisting.txt
(the result using find . -name "*cups*" in /)

p.s. If you need to the rest of my hardware (but I doubt it), see

Thank for the tips. I need to go out this am - I'll check later
today. Btw, the cups search is on /, but I'll check into filter and
foomatic.

You can reinstalled the printer software. Check the printer port with the PC and Printer. You can check the printer symbol at right side- bottom side. Print the test paper and check the proper work or not. You can download Printer software from the Internet.
