Please Welcome Evita to the Linux Tutorial family

    Update October 19, 2013

Thanks to everyone who helped contribute to fixing Evita's roof. The walls were covered with mildew in some places and it was leaking all over. Both were health hazards and the leaking roof made it very hard for Evita to concentrate while studying. With the help of a number of people I collected over $900 and got her roof fixed. With what was left over, Evita was able to buy some necessary school supplies.

Since I starting sponsoring Evita, she has grown into a beautiful young woman. She is now 16 years of age and is in the 11th grade (high school). When she grows up, she wants to become a teacher.

After the devastation in Indonesia from the tsunami in December 2004, the earthquake in the summer of 2006 and the floods shortly thereafter, I decided to sponsor a child with the Christian Children's Fund, which has changed it's name to Child Fund. Despite the original name, children are welcomed into the programs regardless of religous beliefs. The child I originally selected was Nur Khayati, who lives in Central Java, close to the epicenter of the 2006 earthquake. Fortunately for Nur, the program in her community has grown to the point where is is now self sufficient. Sadly, that means CCF is no longer sponsoring the project. The good thing is that we now have the opportunity to help a new child: Evita.

Like Nur, Evita has known only poverty in her young life. She lives with her parents and two siblings in a simple house in Central Java. Her father is a farm laborer, but his income is very irregular laborer, and the family's annual income is around US$ 105. Evita is studying in the primary school and her favorite subject is the Indonesian Language. She is now also studying both English and Japanese.

It would be wonderful if you, too, could also help out by making a donation.
